The Trenches Is Open ⚡️

The Trenches Is Open ⚡️

What makes the trenches different

The psychology & therapy concepts you’re interested in broken down and explained in an easy to digest way- and no pop psychology.

Our current courses include:

  • Healthy relationships

  • Personal Responsibility

  • Emotional regulation

  • Nervous system 101

  • Character building

  • Boundaries

  • Grief

  • And new courses are consistently added.

An environment free of the unhelpful coddling ideas that fill social media.

We have a focus on resilience and personal responsibility with empathy not coddling.

Here we believe in individuals not labels.

Straight, gay, black, white, brown, trans, detrans, male, female, liberal, conservative or any other label- who you are as a human being comes first.

Everyone is respected.

Everyone has the right to their views.

We agree to disagree like adults.

We have monthly group hangouts where we discuss anything you like (respectfully with no thought policing).

The Trenches is…

My Approach

  • I want to offer you tools & information so you can enjoy your life and engage in it meaningfully as a robust, resilient, self-aware human being.

  • This group is for people who do not respond to the fluffy, over-validating, coddling trend that has taken over self-help & insta-therapy.

  • My approach is empathetic, but no BS.

  • I don’t believe ‘healing’ should take over your life or burn you out.

  • This membership is designed to be a part of your life- not take over your whole life.

Hi, I'm Seerut.

I hate having my picture taken, so behold my twitter thumbnail.

I'm a psychotherapist, and I live and work in London. Many of you know me from instagram and twitter, where you follow me for therapeutic information or cultural commentary.

I love The Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, stoicism, philosophy and I'm also a person in the trenches doing my own work too.

This membership is a labour of love for me, because in one sense my life's work has been recovering from trauma & PTSD. I've learned a lot from therapy, training as a therapist, philosophy, science, and lots the hard way from the infamous school of hard knocks.

Now, I’d like to share what I’ve learned with you.

FAQ

+ Who can join?

Anyone who

1) wants to grow & develop

2) is in a stable place psychologically*

3) is ready to do some work and make some positive changes.

*You can do this alongside therapy, you cannot do this instead of therapy.

+ How is this different from following you on Instagram?

You can keep following me on Instagram, a lot of the information is the same- the difference is the the depth of information, the group dynamic and support, and the access to me.

For instance, on instagram I might say, "you must take responsibility for yourself for your life to improve"- but in the membership I will talk you through what looks like, break down why it's important, offer actionable steps, have group coaching, and forum discussions.

+How is this different to therapy?

The therapeutic relationship is a 1:1 dynamic that cannot be scaled. If it’s scaled (barring group therapy) it’s not therapy.

Therapy is incredibly deep work that is focussed purely on you, and the dynamics of our relationship.

This is teaching, coaching, and group support. As opposed to therapy, I am bringing a lot of myself into this, which wouldn't be appropriate in therapy.

This is directive, therapy is not.

While there will be psychoeducation, this will not offer mental health support required by someone who needs therapy.

If you need therapy, please do not sign up for this. Go to therapy, stabilise, and we’ll be here if you want to join us after that. Sweet? Sweet.

+If I can't join now can I join in the future?

In a word: yes.

The enrolment is limited this time but there will either be future enrolments or open access, so you can join then.

If you don't get a spot this time, join the mailing list so you're in the loop of when we open up next time.

+Can I do this instead of therapy?

Absolutely not. This is NOT therapy, and it is not a substitute for therapy, psychological, or psychiatric care.

This is for people who are either already in therapy, or in a stable place.

+Can I join if I am a therapy client?

Current therapy clients: No. If you are a current therapy client. This would create a dual relationship.

Former therapy clients: If it has been less than a year since I saw you in a therapeutic setting, no.

I do not recommend it as we have previously engaged in a therapeutic relationship. This is a very different context to the 1:1 therapeutic relationship, and can cause blurred boundaries.

You might want to restart therapy, and that would not be possible if you joined this programme.

Coaching clients: Please discuss it with me in session.
