A bit about me

I am a psychotherapist based in London; I trained at the University of Roehampton in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I’m also a bit of a nerd, and a die hard Lord Of The Rings fan.

I work using an integrative model (which means incorporating different therapeutic styles) depending on the client and the circumstances.

My main modality is psychodynamic psychotherapy which is derivative of the psychoanalytic tradition.

That can sound a little intimidating, but the basic premise of this work is helping you to understand what has happened so that you can better understand what is happening in the here and now, and then make meaningful change in your life.

How I work

Therapy

My style is straightforward and empathetic. My role is to help you to help yourself and to understand yourself. We meet at a mutually agreed time every week, either in person or over a video call.

I hold up a mirror to the patterns I see, make connections that sometimes you can’t see because you’re too close to them, reflect to you my observations, and we look at these together as a team.

The team aspect is incredibly important because we do this work together. We lay it out on the table and then look at it as a partnership.

We develop a therapeutic relationship -which although is a relationship- is unlike any other relationship- with the focus primarily on you.

The relationship we form a big part of the work we do together.

Therapeutic coaching

I bring my style as a therapist to coaching, however coaching is far more directive. The emphasis of my coaching work is personal development, mindset, and resilience. While many of the concepts, and styles overlap, coaching is very focussed as opposed to therapy which works with deeper material.

While we work together I will teach you about:

• Growth mindset
• How to become more effective
• How to use failure as an opportunity to grow
• Anti-fragility
• Overcoming victimhood mindset
• Developing self-esteem
• Dealing with procrastination
• Perfectionism

And more.

Who I work with

I work wide a wide variety of clients, both here in London and around the world.
I have worked in the NHS, and now work with clients in private practice.

My work has evolved from initially working with survivors of serious trauma to now working
with people who would like to do deeper work.

This is usually people who have already done some work, perhaps had therapy or counselling for acute problems, and would now like to delve deeper.

This looks like developing a profound sense of self-awareness, making meaning of your experiences into a cohesive narrative, developing your sense of self, understanding what’s happening in your relationships, and more.

This is a great fit for people who would like to work on something specific emotionally, personal development, are struggling with something, want to delve deeper into their pasts, their relationships, understand what is going on for them, make meaningful change in their lives, and have the impetus to do the work.
